WBL Workshop Reflection 09/25/17
So today, we were told that our first WBL Workshop would be going on. We first went to the CCEC Center which is known as the library. But, many students were ranting on how hot it was up there and they wished to be in a room that had AC in it. So, after we all met up in the library, we went downstairs to Mrs. Ramirez's room and that is where the Workshop was held. Ms. Lopez was the coordinator and guidance counselor of some us seniors this year.
So today's WBL Workshop was called "The 3 W's" and the whole general idea of the meeting was to emphasize the importance of finishing all of your WBL Requirements this year, ESPECIALLY! Ms. Lopez gave us the "CTE Checklist" in which was listed all the specific papers and proof needed to graduate and show that you ACTUALLY know what you were doing during the past 3 years of being in a CTE Academy. We NEED to have the checklist done before graduation in order to receive the CTE endorsement on our diploma!
Work Based Learning (WBL) provides opportunities for students to learn a variety of skills through rigorous academic preparation with hands-on career development experiences. It is crucial to learn about such because you can be prepared for reality and a work-based environment for future job positions and internships. Having these WBL hours of education will lead to an accomplished and well-received CTE Endorsement that will recognize you as a highly-expected student in colleges as well as in multiple job fields/areas. This workshop was quite useful and helpful in some way, but since I had an internship during the summer, I already knew most of what Ms. Lopez spoke off. I too received pretty strict teaching in order to lead a healthy lifestyle with my boss at work and be a respectful worker. I most importantly learned to complete ALL of the WBL requirements early in order to have less stress along the way for this Web Design course and am able to graduate with all of my achievements.
